gear I use

  • Sony ZV-E1 • VLOGGING CAMERA

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS CAMERA FOR ITS SIZE AND FEATURES!! Granted, the grip could be a little larger but I bought the smallrig cage to solve this issue. I LOVE being able to film in 4k 60p with no crop! I also love the dual iso with the second base at 12,800 iso, making it GREAT for low-light shooting! Shooting slog3 is a staple for me and I’m able to do that with this camera :’) It’s a dream high-quality vlog camera! <3

  • Sony A7CII • Travel camera

Love how this is basically the compact and travel-friendly version of the Sony A7IV! I chose the silver version as I love the retro look of it :) I honestly would use this as my one and only hybrid camera if it had the video specs of the ZV-E1 but sadly, it doesn't :'(

  • Sony A7RV • Main Camera for Wedding Photography

I recently got this camera (mainly for its articulating screen). It will be my main camera for wedding photography :)

  • Sony A7IV Camera • 2nd Cam for Wedding Photography

This used to be my main camera! I primarily used it for wedding photography as well as vlogging. I have enjoyed this hybrid camera a lot, considering it is my first Sony full-frame camera. I think that it offers a lot of amazing stills and video features although I wish that the 4K 60p did not have a 1.5x crop. LOVED shooting this in S-log3 and grading it to produce cinematic content! :’)

These days, it remains as my second camera for wedding photography :)

  • Sony 16-35 PZ F4 G Lens • MAIN VLOG LENS

I love this lens for vlogging! It is super compact and the zoom rocker comes in handy for quick zoom ins and outs! Quality of the images and video that come out of it are great too! While F4 may not be as ideal in low light situations, I still really like this lens for everything else that it is able to deliver for a relatively affordable price!

  • SONY 50MM F1.4 GM Lens

LOVE THIS LENS for its size and weight. I think it shoots really sharp images with beautiful bokeh. Honestly can’t really tell the difference to the more expensive F1.2 GM lens which I have previously owned and used too. It’s definitely a wonderful lens to have in your kit especially if you like to shoot portraits!

  • Sony 35MM F1.4 GM LENS

I have since replaced this with the 50 GM as my main prime lens :’) but this is a compact lens that packs a punch with its beautiful image quality! I think it’s really nice for travel photos or self portraits where I want to feature more of the background!

  • Pgytech Mantispod Pro 2.0 With Bluetooth Remote • Main Vlogging Tripod

My new vlogging tripod (replaces the version 1 of the mantispod). I love the design, functionality and ergonomics of this tripod. The ball-head and quick adapter plate are also brilliantly functional. One of the reasons why I upgraded to the 2.0 was because of the in-built bluetooth remote. Previously, I was using Sony’s RMT-P1BT bluetooth remote but didn’t like how it was a separate accessory to this tripod. I am SO GLAD that pgytech came up with this new design and I absolutely LOVE IT!

  • Ulanzi x Coman Zero Y Tripod • Main Tripod

I LOVE this tripod for its compact build and size. It makes a great travel tripod! Great carbon fibre quality, ballhead and features

  • Sony ECM-M1 Mic • Main Vlogging Mic

Even though this mic is expensive, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE its compact size, weight, audio quality and recording modes! My quest for finding a great quality, low profile, compact mic is FINALLY OVER!

  • Rode Videomic NTG • Voice Over Recording Mic

I USE THIS AS MY VOICE-OVER RECORDING MIC! LOVE the audio quality of this mic. It has a rich and full sounding profile which I really love. It has safety channel recording and other cool features. The only gripe I have is that it is a pretty chunky mic (with the deadcat on) so it’s attention grabbing whenever you take it outside. Overall, I’d still recommend this mic.

  • DJI Air 3 Fly More Combo (DJI RC2) • Main Drone

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the dual cameras of this drone. The 24mm is a classic wide shot but I LOVE the versatility and look that the 70mm zoom shot gives. Also love how the drone is relatively compact and travel friendly (granted it is bigger and heavier than the previous air 2s) and it’s been an absolute dream flying with the RC2 with its big screen. The only thing I wish we could get is a variable aperture on this drone, but I guess that’s reserved for the mavic pro series which is way more expensive and larger in size.

  • Wandrd Prvke Lite (11L) • Everyday Camera Bag

I am so happy that I finally got my hands on this bag! I’ve been enjoying it so so much! While it is pricey, I do feel that it was worth the investment. The bag sits comfortably on the body and is well padded and has practical compartments and great layout. I love that for security reasons, the main bag opening is against your back as opposed to being on the front. I also love the aesthetic and design of it and the 11L extends out to 16L when rolled out from the top which is super useful for carrying a lot of things while remaining small especially against smaller sized people like myself. Overall, I highly recommend this bag and I’m so glad that my search for a camera backpack is finally over! 💕

  • Freewell Magnetic ND Filters - 82MM • Main Variable ND Filter

My go-to ND filter is the 2-5 stop variable ND. Definitely recommend Freewell magnetic NDs as they are quick to swap out, reasonably priced and are of great quality. The only thing I would caution is that this filter adds a bit of a warmth to the image (which can easily be fixed in post).

  • Freewell Step-Up Filter Adapter Rings

What I use to adapt to my 82mm Freewell ND filters. I own the 67mm to 82mm as well as 72mm to 82mm versions of this adapter ring.

  • Peak Design Cuff - Midnight Blue

Wrist strap that is quick to connect to and not cumbersome to shoot with.

  • Godox V1S Speedlite

I use this flash with the accessory kit (AK-R1) when shooting indoors especially for events. Having speedlights on hand makes a HUGE difference to my images! The battery of the V1S also lasts a long time, output is great and pricing is reasonable. Would highly recommend it!

  • Manfrotto Advanced III 20L Rolling Camera Bag

This has made it a lot easier for me to get around my shoots. It rolls really smoothly and fits a good amount of gear. The only thing I would say is that the base isn’t padded but a hard surface so I would recommend putting your own foam padding as an added layer of protection.

  • Sony Tough-M V60 SD Card - 128GB

Upgraded from a V30 to V60 SD card so that I could get faster buffer and transfer speeds. I think that the Sony Tough-M is reliable and gives me a good amount of storage per shoot.

  • Sandisk Extreme Micro SD Card - 128GB

Great amount of storage per shoot for my drone.

  • Sandisk Portable SSD - 2TB

I edit my current media off of this SSD as it gives me a good amount of storage, speed and reliability. I like how it is really lightweight and has really fast transfer speeds.

I was previously using the Samsung T5 Portable SSD 1TB but needed more storage so I upgraded to this 2TB instead.

  • Kinto Travel Tumbler 500ML - khaki

This double walled stainless steel tumbler stays with me throughout my commutes and travels. It’s great for carrying around an iced or hot beverage and keeps it insulated for hours.

  • Apple Studio Display (Standard Glass)

This 27” screen has been A DREAM to edit on. I love the screen real estate for editing. Amazing sharpness and beautiful thin bezels. Granted it is an expensive screen but I don’t like calibrating my screen and worrying about colours so I went with this display.

  • Apple Mac Mini M2 Pro

    12-Core CPU • 19-Core GPU • 16-Core Neutral Engine • 32 GB Unified Memory • 2TB SSD
I AM SO THANKFUL I HAVE THIS NEW PROCESSOR AND DESKTOP! It’s been a dream editing on this. Super fast rendering for final cut pro x and other adobe software. I only wish I upgraded to the 4TB SSD cause I’m realising my fcpx projects are taking more and more storage space :’)

  • 12.9" Ipad Pro (3rd Generation) - 256gb

I love this iPad for a number of features. I use it to design/draw (on the procreate app) or as a second screen for my iMac (using sidecar). It can also be used as a large camera monitor (using the monitor+ app for Sony).

  • Apple Pencil (2nd Generation)

What I use to draw on my iPad Pro.

  • ON THE SHELF • Sony 20MM F1.8 G Lens

This was my previous vlogging lens (I now use the 16-35 PZ). I will be keeping this lens for astrophotography / wide angle shots where I need a wider aperture :) I love the size of this lens and quality of the images that come out of it!

  • RETIRED • Sirui T-024SK Tripod

SITTING IN MY CUPBOARD AS BACKUP! (haha I still have this but don’t use it much) Good tripod that is lightweight, relatively compact and reasonably priced.

  • RIP • DJI Mavic 2 Pro

RIP (it fell into the river). The DJI Mavic 2 Pro was my main drone until I lost it at sea when the aircraft disconnected with my remote. Loved the image and footage that came out from this baby!

  • RETIRED • IMAC (21.5inch, 2017)

NO LONGER USING THIS (got an upgrade woohoo!) Processor • 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
    Memory • 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
    Graphics • Radeon Pro 560 4 GB

  • SOLD OFF • Sony 50mm F1.2 GM Lens

This used to be my main prime lens for portraits! I LOVEEE the bokeh and image quality of this beauty! It’s AMAZINGLY SHARP too! But it was pretty heavy and I sold this to get the newer, lighter, cheaper and barely noticeable *unless you pixel peep* Sony 50mm F1.4 GM Lens :)

Personal note:

It’s taken me about 5 years purchasing different camera systems (Olympus, Panasonic, Canon and Sony) to figure out what I liked and didn’t, what worked and didn’t, to get to what I have today. I’ve been very mindful of consistently re-investing into the gear I own, which has taken a lot of sacrifice by not eating/drinking out, splurging on social activities and unnecessary shopping. I’ve also been privileged enough to live with my parents and I am so thankful for that (massive help to saving money). The reason why I share this is because I don’t want anyone to feel the pressure to spend massive amounts of money on gear, only to get into debt for it. I had that issue initially, when I started out as a videographer. I was obsessed with watching all these gear/tech reviews and always wanting the latest and greatest and it came at the cost of living paycheck to paycheck and spending most of my income on gear. I hope that you and I will be mindful of not falling into this trap (aka gear acquisition syndrome), whenever looking at other people’s gear :’)
